Beef and Sheep Grazing Groups
AHDB Beef & Lamb has been working with a group of consultants and advisers to establish grazing groups for beef and sheep producers throughout England.
The aim of each group is to help producers improve their grassland management and develop their grazing strategies.
How does it work?
A small group of members is brought together by a local facilitator. Each grazing group is structured to meet the requirements of the members. Generally, groups meet six times per year for a few hours on a member’s farm to learn from other people’s experiences, challenge each other and identify best practice.
Members go for a farm walk at each meeting, the host discusses their system and the group is then given opportunities to ask questions and provide constructive criticism.
Each member pays £150 per year to contribute to the external facilitator’s costs, with AHDB Beef & Lamb topping up.
If you would like to join a Grazing Group email your local facilitator for further details.
